Ok, I have been enlightened since my last post. For those of you who are interested in real
data (and what self-respecting engineer is not) here is some detailed data
regarding the weather on St John.
As you can see the temperatures are pretty consistent (it sure would be nice to be a weather man in the VIs). The water temperature does vary somewhat, in the summer months the water temperature is about 83 degrees and in the winter about 79 degrees (it is amazing what a 4 degree difference can make). The final column in the table indicates tropical storm and hurricane activity which occurred within two degrees of the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico from 1819 to 2001. REMEMBER that is 185 years which means that the likelihood of a major storm happening in any particular year is about 50% (got to love math).
By the way, tomorrow
it is partly cloudy with a chance of rain showers (this means
it will probably rain somewhere sometime in STJ … it does almost every day). It
will be a high temperature of 84F. Beats the hell out of the freezing weather we
have been experiencing lately!!!
